O’Fallon, Illinois started out as a crossroads, a meeting place for the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad where they built a train depot in 1854 and named it the O’Fallon Station. The name was in honor of a prominent businessman in St. Louis. The O’Fallon Station was located in what is today the historic district of town.
