Des Peres, Missouri is a town of around eight thousand people in Saint Louis County. Des Peres got its name from the Des Peres River which has two tributaries, the Deer Creek and the Two Mile Creek, that run through the town.
Before European immigration, the area now called Des Peres was inhabited by the tribes of the Cahokia, Kaskaskia, Tamaora, Moingwena, Osage and the Michigamea.
European settlers began to arrive in Des Peres throughout the first half of the 19th century. By 1850, Saint Louis was a bustling metropolis with a population of 75,000. Des Peres, like many of the towns in this area, was settled primarily by Germans. The little church on Ballas Road called Saint Paul’s Lutheran of Des Peres was built in 1834.
Des Peres is home to the U.S. headquarters of two major companies, Edward Jones Investments and Scottrade. The median income per household is right around one hundred thousand dollars per year, and Des Peres has only two percent of their population living at an income level below the federal poverty line. For the past eleven years, the city of Des Peres has been able to offer their residents a town with no real of personal property taxes.
Des Peres will probably never grow as big as Saint Louis with only 4.4 square miles of land to develop. In the 2000 census, there were already 1,954 people per square mile. The community of Des Peres is still primarily European in descent with ninety-six percent of the population being white. There are more women than men in Des Peres, but the age ranges of the population are spread out fairly evenly.

The Lodge is a community center offering programs in aquatics at their indoor and outdoor aquatic centers including a wave pool. Other amenities of the Lodge include meeting rooms and a fitness center.
